Philadelphia Sports Icons Vince Papale, Lou Tilley and Don Tollefson
Join Diane McGraw and Invite Students to "DARE TO DREAM"
About Careers in Sports and Entertainment

October 18, 2006 - Media, PA - "The 2006 Dare-to-Dream Experience," a sports and entertainment career exploration and motivational program, will take place Saturday, November 4th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Joseph's University, 5600 City Line Avenue, Philadelphia. At the event, students will have the unique opportunity to meet and interact with leaders from sports, entertainment, music, arts, film and broadcasting companies.
Created and produced by Delaware County native Diane McGraw, President, red eye entertainment, the program introduces students to behind-the-scenes careers in sports and entertainment. Event hosts are TV sports anchors Lou Tilley, Comcast SportsNet and Don Tollefson, Fox 29 TV and guest speaker, Vince Papale, former Philadelphia Eagle, and subject of the Disney Movie "Invincible." The fun-and-fact-filled day will include a video presentation, panel discussion, lunch, and round table discussions with industry leaders.
The panel will include industry professionals representing the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phantoms, WMMR, The Philadelphia Film Office, Clear Channel, Libertad/Universal Music, St. Joseph's University Athletic Department, as well as professionals in sports and entertainment law, casting, TV, and music production.
While the event may end, the learning experience does not; each student will receive a one-of-a-kind comprehensive Career Guide detailing job descriptions in each industry, salary ranges, educational degrees/training requirements, and a glossary of terms. In addition, the guide offers tips on resume and letter writing and job interviewing techniques.
According to Lou Tilley, "Since the program's inception in 2003, over 3000 students throughout southeastern Pennsylvania have been positively impacted by the experience. It is a testament to its effectiveness, outreach and creator's vision."
"Unlike previous years, where we invited high school students, this year, we are also reaching out to college students. This event will be an exciting experience for them and will provide immeasurable results as they plan their future careers," says Diane McGraw. She adds, "Most teens and young adults aspire to become athletes or entertainers. Our event is designed to help them realize they can work in these industries, even if they don't make it playing on the field or performing in front of the camera. Hopefully, exposing students to these opportunities will encourage them to apply themselves in the classroom."
Diane McGraw previously served as President of the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission; President of the Orlando Sports Commission; Executive Director, Philadelphia Sports Congress, and Assistant to the President, Screen Actors Guild & Astoria Motion Picture & TV Center in New York. Her first-hand knowledge working behind the scenes in sports and entertainment, as well as her commitment to providing education and career opportunities to our youth, led to the development of this important program.
To find out more about the program and to register, visit www.dare-2-dream.org, download the registration form and send it with a $55 check or money order payable to red eye entertainment inc., 4 State Road, #310, Media, PA 19063.
